OBJECTIVES:

Primary Objective:

  1. To develop and validate a new MDR-TB stigma scale for use in patients.

Secondary Objectives:

  1. To quantify the stigma of MDR-TB patients using a validated stigma scale (the Redwood MDR-TB Stigma Scale)

  2. To compare the new Redwood MDR-TB stigma scale to the Explanatory Model Interview Catalogue (EMIC) MDR-TB stigma scale

Comparison of Stigma between New TB patients and MDR-TB Patients using the EMIC stigma scale (Stigma B)

  1. To establish the difference between the stigma reported by patients with MDR-TB and newly diagnosed TB.

Secondary Objectives:

  1. To re-validate the EMIC TB stigma scale in the Vietnamese context

  2. To re-validate the EMIC TB stigma scale for use in MDR-TB patients

  3. To quantify stigma in MDR-TB patients

  4. A quantify stigma in new TB patients

  5. To compare the Redwood MDR-TB Stigma Scale to the EMIC TB stigma scale
